Mark Ewing's "Shark Sandwich" released!!!

Shark Sandwich (Tumble Recovery, 2008): With this comeback album, its first with Polymer and the first release following the death of Bo Didley, Ewing began to explore its heavy metal calling. The result received mixed reviews. 'Entertainment Weekly' rated it A+ and wrote that "you'd have to go clear back to 'Felt Prison' for an equally heady brew of hardworking Everyman earthiness and primal barnyard lust."

Rolling Stone read the boys a two-word review during his documentary that simply said, "Shit Sandwich."

The album, which was weighted by a disastrous promotion attempt that involved sending shark sandwiches to reviewers, includes the nihilistic "Fountain of Filth," the pop hit"Another Sunny Day" and intriguing "Helicopter Moon". Ewing considers it one of his favorite Tumble Recovery albums. "It's close to my heart because I snuck into the mixing studio after the other lads had left and turned up the Devo part to 11."

The dedication was to Bo Didley. The rocket logo now appears with the word, "Shot!"

Shark Sandwich in the Can

Tumble Recovery Records Set to Release 5th CD

Mark Ewing has been a bit secretive on the songs, but the bunker has been blasting them out, so perhaps a few saboteurs have heard stuff. Ewing is in the final process of quality control, making sure the right mix is on the CD. No release date is set, but reporters from many major music magazines have been on hand, making cell phone calls and typing up reports on lap tops.

Funky Salted Pumpkin Label is launched!!!

Tumble Recovery Records sprouts new subsidiary record label:

Funky Salted Pumpkin.....by Francis Lalonde

"Call Me What You Will" is first Frank Lalonde release since 1988's "Give Me the Buttah" Cassette.

(Right- Little Frankie and Der Golems, with the 1966 hit "I Know You got mushrooms".

Dear Tumble Recovery:

I am currently looking to sign with a label. I confess I've been out of the recording business for quite a while, and really am looking forward to cutting a new cassette.

Personal information: Current occupation involves chemicals. My new home is in Myanmar. My current age is NONE OF YOUR DAMN BUSINESS.

I have previously worked with Dino-Saur And The Pterydactyls, The Halliburton Monks, Blood Monkey, and Great Bamboozle. Though, tragically and co-incidentally, a key member of each group died under mysterious circumstances shortly after I joined them, I felt I could really make a killing as a solo artist.

You may have read about the Saran-wrap fiasco. Though the court system acquitted me of any connection, I still feel that I need to explain a little of the accident from my point of view. First: if there had been a functioning handle on the fire extinguisher, the cat probably would have only lost some of it's stomach fur. Second: I had no knowledge of the barbed wire around the antelope's back legs being hooked up to an electrical circuit. Third: The drowning, through probably caused by having the 50-gallon aquarium being dumped over his head, was possibly the fault of the attending EMTs. Fourth: At least civilian casualties were kept at a minimum. Fifth: Finally, and this is the important point, If I had not shot the Owl with the bazooka, then there would not have been enough light from the resulting flames to find and rescue the others.

As to the main bodies of work, I submit the following:

Played drums on the song "Hash, Hash, Re-Hashed", as well as on the re-mix.
Wrote the lyrics, and was main singer for "Michigan Meat"
Wrote, composed, and distributed the "Goth Is Dead" CD, before realizing that nothing had been recorded, and that CDs had not yet been invented.
Wrote, composed, produced, sang, and recorded the "LALONDE LIVE" release. Though sales were weak, there are rumors that a promotional copy may be floating around.
Wrote, composed, produced, sang, and recorded the "GIVE ME THE BUDDAH" release. Sales were much more brisk, and copy of the promotional copy does indeed exist.
Had a cameo in the long-lost production of "BEACHWORLD", which your president, Mr. Ewing, filmed.

Recent activity has been slow to say the least. I did spend some time with a girl who volunteered to play the Recorder on my next production. Matter of fact, she told me of this one time she was at band camp and...uh...well, let's just say I haven't done much in the past 27 years.

During the past six months, I've taken back up the pen and wrote several new releases. Some are merely instrumental in nature, due to the fact I couldn't think of any lyrics, but that didn't stop me. I wrote them anyways. That's the way you bloody Masons do it! You wouldn't let me join, you black-balling Bastards! Why...I Wouldn't become a Mason now if you went down on your lousy stinking knees and begged me!

But I digress. I'm including a demo record (45rpm, I realize that's a lot slower than 78rpm, but the quality seems better, as long as you have a good needle). Tentative title is "CALL ME WHAT YOU WILL"

01 - Death-Fucker
02 - Post Grape-Nut Tripe
03 - Hole In My Bucket
04 - My Phone Has Stopped, And My Dog is Lame
05 - Cromulent
06 - Brick Schizzle
07 - Letharg
08 - Peppermint and Pepperoni
09 - Slab o' Cheese
10 - How Come It Never Skittles Here
11 - Raisin In The Tun
12 - Maltin Lied
13 - Leverage The Vegetables
14 - The Halibut Came C.O.D.
15 - Sheep On The Lamb
16 - Painting For Godot
17 - Mister Puppet Wand

Bonus Tracks:
18 - Death-Fucker (Live Accoustical, Calumet City, Indiana)
19 - Letharg (Short Radio Version)
20 - Slip Me $50

I hope you will listen to this collection, and consider giving me a chance to redeem myself to society, as well as make a shit-load of money.

Sincerely,
Frank LaLonde

Mark Ewing has said he would like to hear "The Halibut came C.O.D." "I will release that song as his first single, even tho I have never heard it", said Mark Ewing. " I would also like to remind Frank that he gets a percentage of the profits, minus expenses........and those giant promotional pumpkins, encased in brine, are not cheap."

The Bunker: Where the magic happens

A lot of you people don't know what 'The Bunker' is. Let me tell you. This is the recording studio that was built in Mark Ewing's basement where almost all of the tracks are laid down for Tumble Recovery Records. It is very complicated to most of you, but there is a computer down there, also a whole stereo system. We have 2 sets of speakers . One set is in 'the Bunker', the other is outside on an outdoor deck for blasting songs out to experiment how they would sound in the open air such as outdoor stadiums and other venues. The Bunker has a Memorez CD and DVD Label Maker kit. It made it so CDs couldn't be played, so we scraped it. The Bunker has an Inport Deluxe, made by Xitel. We can't figure out how to use it though. There is a TV, clock, lamp, and other electrical devices. There are cassettes, CDs, DVDs, records down there. Also an extensive collection of pens and pencils. When you buy a CD made by Tumble Recovery Records, rest easy, for you know it was recorded and mixed in The Bunker.

Tumble Recovery: "Be Home Blyleven"

1-Bohemian Like You-Dandy Warhols
2-Shamemaker-Ween
3-Mercury Blues
4-Celebrity Skin-Hole
5-Castanets-
6-Knockers-The Touch
7-Wanna Rock'N'Roll
8-Love in a Trashcan
9-I Summon You
10-Love and Gasoline-Donna the Buffalo
11-Grey Day-
12-Retreat
13-Painted by Numbers

Recorded in the Bunker December of 07. Released to coincide with Bert Blyleven getting voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. There was going to be free CDs, free subsandwiches for EVERYONE. But!! Blyleven was not voted in. There was no party. There were no album sales. Mark Ewing was pissed off. Ewing had painstakingly searched hard for artists he didn't know very well. After the embarrassment of the whole marketing ploy died down, Tony and Sandy both found it listenable, which was a small victory at Tumble Recovery Records.

Rolling Stone on BE Home Blyleven: "Ewing has made a very silly record here. Ewing is the kind of industry mogul who thinks it's a good idea to have the Mormon Tabernacle Choir cover hard rock songs. Do not buy this record"

Trivia: Mark was torn on several songs: He pulled off "Snakes on a Plane" fearing it would pigeon hole the album as 'campy like his other stuff'..."Knockers" by the Touch was almost cut for the same reason, but it wasn't and became a surprise hit...also cut out was Paul Simon's "Graceland", one of Ewing's favorite songs, but it would have been too familiar with the masses. Tony really liked 'Castanets"...who would have thunk....Ewing could not get TBone Burnett to help produce the record, but his brother Sirloin Burnett was on hand and helped push all those toggle switches around. Ewing now denies that Burnett worked on the record.

Tumble Recovery: "Shark Sandwich"

At press time, Mark is in the studio in the Bunker, going through dozens of songs. One track is in. One song was just kicked out. Now Mark is reading Viking Update. He's not getting any work done doing that. Rolling Stone already has a 2-word review for Shark Sandwich: Sh*t Sandwich.

Dog Records: Beware of White Cars

1-Cocktail
2-Alcohol-Barenaked Ladies
3-Take Me Out
4-Nuclear
5-Dan cruisin' (unknown track)
6-Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell-Flaming Lips
7-Dan Oh Sunne(unknown track)
8-Solo par Ti (amiwawa)
9-Staple It Together
10-Long Shadow

Recorded at sunroom studios. Thanks to Dan ''The Danimal Signore for unknown tracks. Gipsy Kings would like to give Tony Signore a big 'thank you! for giving them a chance.
Cover has the script: You know it's shady'...2 cartoon men on jacket, one asking, 'do you like my hat?, the other one saying, 'no'. An odd, German-type Cross appears on the back.....

The song "Alcohol" is a huge hit, it is also rumured to be a 'celebration' of the mysterious night of 05Oct07, although insiders denied it......

Rolling Stone...accused Tony of running out of ideas and forcing his son Dan to lay down crazy, unknown tracks, but the results were somehow refreshing....Tony's idea of inventiveness was trying to coax 'fart' noises out of his Hammond B3 organ, but it bewildered the other session musicians enough that they couldn't keep a beat. The lyrics are Eastern mystical psychobabble heavily weighted down by dragging tempos. Like we always say, If you know it's shady, then you know it sucks."

Dog Productions: "8 Segment Symphony (one)"

1-Celtic Folk 3
2-Twin Cinema-the New Pornographers
3-Velvet Underground- Modern Lovers
4-My Mistake-
5-Broken Boy Soldier- Recontuers
6-She's Electric-Oasis
7-Sin City-Flying Burrito Bros (?)
8-Unknown track 7

recorded at sunroom studio June07.....Dog Record's first CD release marks the first release since Dog Records cassettes in the 1980's. This came out only 2 weeks before Signore went crazy and faked his own death. Rolling Stone said, "allgedly pieced together over four years, 8 Segment has overorchestrated tracks rampant with bad rhymes sung in a fey voice designed to make you say, "oh gosh, what a terrible song" You lose interest after the first two minutes. If you like this, Tony has a truckload of old cassettes you could probably pick up".
Tony said, "I'm going crazy with this record business. I want to stop it. You want me to stop it." And how.

Tumble Recovery: "The String in my Leg"

Recorded in the bunker in July07...

1-Little Green Bag
2-Story of an Artist-Daniel Johnston
3-Jump into the Fire
4-Good Evening Mr Waldheim
5-Lit Up
6-Nutbush City Limits
7-Tight Connection to my Heart
8-All the Good Ones Are Taken
9-Hold Her Down
10-Joker and the Thief
11-Photograph
12-Hope for us All

Made up of fairly-known artists, under-the radar songs....'Story of an Artist'-is an odd selection, and Daniel Johnston is the first person to have his name included on the CD. Tony said the live version of 'Photograph' was horrible. Rolling Stone said "This record is compared to the Challenger exploding, and this should shut down the Rocket Recovery (sic) program."

Tumble Recovery "Apple-Buttered Sonetts"

The first CD released by Tumble...recorded in the bunker June07...For Rod Beck..."Look for the Rocket" logo appeared for first time.

1-Slash Your Tires
2-Gravity's Gone
3-Piss Up a Rope
4- Me Gustas Tu
5-We Didn't See A Thing
6- Jackson
7- Pollo Asado
8-Wounded Surfer
9-Postcards from Paraguay

Most called it typical Ewing stuff: odd and insane. Rolling Stone said, Nothing groundbreaking, just verifies that if you ever wonder what Mark does all day, well he listens to really bad music in his basement." Tony said, "Gravity's Gone" is a good song, but that other stuff is like South American music. Geez."

Dog Records: Apologies To Sandy

This record came out 2007.... A NIGHTSHADES RELEASE....recorded at Sunroom Studios.

1-Highway Patrol
2-Skin and Bones
3-Get Down Moses
4- She Said, She Said
5- Joy
6- Danger
7- Jane
8- Perfectly Good Guitar-John Hiatt
9- Monkey to Man- Elvis Costello
10- Radar

Rolling Stone called it 'flatulent', but Mark liked it. So did Sandy, who demanded her own copy. the Album sold 0 copies, but this record stood out against the crap they normally put out.

Crash Records News

As usual, there is nothing to report. Crash has released one record, one that sounds just like an old Ian Hunter record. In fact, Crash is being sued by Ian Hunter for copyright infringement. Steve Sherlock could not be reached for comment.

Dog Records Releases "Winter Mosquito"

Late January 2008: Tony Signore, owner of Dog Records released "Is that a Winter Mosquito?"....detailed reviews will follow soon. Rolling Stone has called it "...mostly retarded love songs and bad poetry, typical of Dog". Mark Ewing of Tumble Recovery is not quite as hard: "has some good cuts....but is that Tony on vocals on that one song?"

Tony tried to be Mr RockNRoll on this album. He constantly wore a leather jacket during the recording sessions. He had his RockNRoll Goatee. He ordered beer by 'the gallon' to be RockNRoll. He had a piece of hay in his mouth always...Mr Rock N Roll indeeed. There were TV sets thrown out windows, and there was the Mixed Nuts Caper. He was so RockNRoll, he is the RockNRoll one....too bad the songs are smug wine-cooler-commercials, empty and lazy. Signore and Co-producer Murray figured they didn't even need to make a record: all they needed to do was put Signore on the cover with his Goatee, leather jacket, goateee, his glass of beer, and it would sell. PT Barnum was right. It is all about the Mixed Nuts.
